Battledown Ward

Battledown ward provides a comprehensive medical and day case surgical service for children and young people aged 0 - 16 years of age. It also offers shared care services with Bristol Children’s and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

 

  

Cardiac Unit

The Cardiac Ward is a 21 bedded ward divided into a 6-bedded monitored acute coronary care unit (CCU) and 15-bedded general cardiac/medical ward (comprising of 2 bays each with 6 beds, a single side room and a double side room).

 

    

Chedworth Suite

Chedworth Suite is a friendly 12-bed specialist unit providing day surgery services to the population of Cheltenham and the surrounding area. We care for men and women undergoing a variety of surgical procedures as day cases. The types of surgery undertaken include gynaecology, urology, vascular and general surgery. The procedures undertaken are incredibly varied, from hernia repairs, varicose vein surgery, circumcisions and fertility investigations to minor procedures such as prostate biopsies and the removal of skin lesions. 

 

Department of Critical Care (DCC)

High Dependency Unit

The Department of Critical Care (DCC) at Cheltenham General Hospital is located in St Lukes 2 block on the ground floor. It looks after patients who need more care than can be given on general wards (High Dependency and Intensive Care).

DCC has nine beds, including four single rooms to help to control infection.

Dixton Ward is a Trauma Ward. We are located in the College Road Wing on the 3rd Floor.

Our Aim is to ensure each patient receives care of the highest standard respecting his/her culture.

 

  

Endoscopy Ward

The Endoscopy Unit is a friendly 8 bedded specialist unit providing a service to the population of Gloucestershire and beyond. The Endoscopy Unit at Cheltenham General Hospital can be found on the first floor of the centre block at the back of the hospital. We are essentially a day time unit and are open between 0730 hrs and 1930 hrs Monday to Friday but provide emergency out of hours cover as needed. We pride ourselves on providing a service that is timely, informative, efficient and friendly. Our aim is to provide the very highest standards of care to patients and relatives alike ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained at all times. 

 

Eyford Ward

Eyford is a ward specialising in the care of patients undergoing Ophthalmic (Eye) surgery as well as Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. The majority of the work is with day case patients, the inpatients being cared for on Montpellier ward or in the case of Oral Surgery, Knightsbridge ward.

 

  

Guiting Ward

Guiting Ward is a 34 bedded mixed sex in-patient facility specialising in Respiratory Medicine (conditions such as asthma, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis) whilst having a compliment of acute general medical patients also. We meet a variety of patient needs which includes the administration of Non-Invasive Ventilation. Our ward philosophy has been to provide quality always, with a high standard of individualised patient care. We uphold standards to maintain privacy, dignity and confidentiality whilst respecting all patients’ wishes, providing collaborative working with patients and relatives in planning and evaluating their care needs. 


Hartpury Suite

The Hartpury Suite Ward is a 9 bedded ward open from 07.30am – 6.00pm. We regularly take up to 18 patients per day through the 9 beds, both male and female, unfortunately due to the amount of patients and the layout of the ward it is not possible at present to segregate men and women. We ask that all patients bring dressing gown and slippers, men bring pyjama bottoms.

 

Hazleton Ward

Hazleton Ward is a 20 bedded ward, specialising in Gastroenterology/Endocrine

Hazleton Ward is located in the Centre Block, Level 1.

 

Knightsbridge Ward

Knightsbridge Ward is a purpose built, mixed speciality private patients' ward with 15 rooms, a four roomed oncology Outpatients Suite and a Consulting Room.

Knightsbridge Ward is located on Level 4 of St. Luke's Wing. 

 

Lansdown Suite

The Lansdown Suite is a purpose built unit where Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy and Registrar Review clinics are held. This department is situated in the centre block on the ground floor.

The Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy clinics are run by a Consultant, Nurse Specialist or Registrars, usually aided by a registered Nurse and Nursing Auxiliary. Whereas the Registrar Review clinics are run by the on-call registrar, SHO’s and Nurse Practitioners.

 

Lillybrook Ward

Welcome to Lilleybrook Ward. We are a 22 bed ward that cares principally for patients being
treated for cancer.

Lilleybrooke Ward is located in the Oncology Centre at the rear of the hospital.

Montpellier Ward

Montpellier Ward consists of twelve side rooms based in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Unit in College Road Wing.

The type of patients we care for currently is changing over the next few months from August to include the majority of patients who will be undergoing Elective Orthopaedic Surgery. However we also admit and care for other patients under various specialities.

 

Oakley Ward

Oakley Ward is a 25 bedded female Medical Ward specialising in Diabetes and the Acute Care of Older People.

 

 

 

Orthopaedic Admission Suite

The department is situated in St Paul’s Wing of the hospital. Entrance is best made via Kensham Road, there is a pay and display car park outside the entrance to this wing. Pre Operative Assessment, Orthopaedic Admissions and orthotics all work within the department.



 

Orthopaedic Outpatients

The department is located in College Road Wing, adjacent to the Emergency Department. The nearest car park is College Road; there is a lift which can take patients down to level 1.

Within the department we have Fracture/Trauma clinic, Orthopaedic clinic and Plaster Room. We have 9 examination rooms, 4 consulting rooms, reception area and waiting room which has a children’s play facility.
 

Pamington Suite

The Pamington Suite is primarily a Pre-assessment unit.

Patients are seen here prior to being admitted to the hospital for routine operations. The purpose of this is to ensure that you are fit and well and to undergo any tests that you may need in preperation for your forthcoming operation.

 

Prescott Ward

Prescott Ward is situated on the top floor of the centre block. It has 34 beds, divided into 4 bays, accommodating both male and female patients . It has 7 consultants who specialise in colo-rectal, urology and gynaecology .

You will find Prescott Ward in the Centre Block at the rear of the hospital.

 

Rendcomb Ward

Rendcomb Ward consists of a two 6 bedded bays, 10 single rooms and an annex area. We specialise in Oncology and Haematology and deliver a variety of care including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Stem Cell Transplantation.

  

Ryeworth Ward

Ryeworth Ward is a 32 bedded ward specialising in the ongoing care of older people, especially those with more complex needs and those requiring a reorganisation of care at home before leaving hospital. The team deal with the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of illness in older people after surgery or following an acute medical illness.

   

Snowshill Ward

Snowshill Ward is a female surgical ward accommodating breast and urology patients with 18 beds divided in to four bays each with four beds and two single rooms.  It is situated in St Pauls Wing at Cheltenham General Hospital on the first floor where there is both stair and lift access

   

West Block Outpatients

Welcome to the West Block Outpatient Department. We are a large department situated over 3 floors. West Block Outpatients is located on the lower ground floor, Prestbury Clinics and the Dermatology Treatment room are situated on the upper ground floor, and Withington Suite can be found on the 1st floor in the ‘West Block’ of Cheltenham General Hospital.
