Multi-storey Car Park Development at GRH

01/04/2010

Building work of a decked car park on-site at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital will soon get underway as part of a range of provision to address parking pressures for patients, visitors and staff.

VINCI Construction is due to start onsite on 26th April and is expected to take one year to develop. Staff, patients and visitors who using the existing Tower Block car park will be advised of alternative parking arrangements during this time.

After a staff member approached the media with her concerns about the safety of staff parking on temporary car parks, Director for Property and Medical Engineering, Graham Marsh said:

“The safety of our staff is paramount and we would like to reassure the nurse who has raised these concerns that there will be regular patrols of the sites, and would invite her to approach the Trust’s Parking Manager so we can address her concerns fully.

“The staff using these car parks for the duration of the build will be ‘Standard User’ staff working during the day from 9-5pm.

“Parking for night and shift staff as well as for staff on-call will continue to be provided on the Gloucestershire Royal site and our contractors VINCI Park will have a member of staff available on site 24/7.

“We encourage all our staff to follow our safety guidelines and not put themselves at risk or leave their valuables on display. Our Safety Advisers are available to staff who would like further safety advice.”
