Statement: Snow

A hospital spokesperson said:

“Yesterday, more than 39 new patients were referred to the fracture clinic at Cheltenham General, against the usual figure of 18.

Many people are heeding the advice to stay at home where possible and to take care when walking, but we are still seeing, young, fit people with serious fractures.  Further problems are likely to arise when the snow turns to ice so we’d advise people to continue to take care when venturing out.

“Despite the adverse conditions, our staff have made huge efforts to get into work, with many of them staying overnight to ensure that we are able to maintain the right standards of patient care.”
