New Multi-Storey Car Park Opens at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital
08/04/11
The new Tower Car Park at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital opens to staff and visitors on Monday, April 11th. Work on the new 1000 space multi-storey car park began in April 2010 and has been completed on time by VINCI Park.
The innovative design incorporates a series of cedar timber louvre panels, rotated to create a wave effect. This is designed to prevent car headlights from being seen in nearby properties while also providing natural ventilation, light and surveillance. To improve speed and ensure ease of payment, new equipment includes pay on foot machines for visitors, meaning that they only pay for the time they use.
For staff users, it utilitises number plate recognition technology which automatically matches permits to the vehicle and uses a variable message board outside the car park to notify when the car park is full. Staff will be also able to ‘pay as they go’ by swiping their Smart Cards to exit the building, making it easier and more convenient.
The new car park also features a purpose-built Parking Shop, which will be located close the front of the car park. VINCI Park staff will be available to answer any questions on the new equipment and also to assist with permit renewals, applications and any other parking related queries.
“The opening of the new Tower Car Park at the hospital will significantly improve car parking provision on-site” said Ian Tait, Estates and Facilities Divisional Director, adding “It should ease parking pressures for staff, visitors and patients alike.”
