Restrictions to Visiting at our Hospitals Continues
Our two hospitals, Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General, are experiencing significant operational pressure due to the high volume of patient admissions that require isolation due to winter vomiting and seasonal flu symptoms.
In line with good clinical practice, we need to minimise movements in and out of wards, so we are continuing to restrict visiting by relatives and friends across all wards at both hospitals. This is in order to minimise transmission of these infectious viruses, which are prevalent in the community.
The exception to the restricted visiting is anyone who is visiting on compassionate grounds.
These visitors are being asked to please speak to a member of ward staff on entering the ward.
Visiting to children’s and maternity wards continues to be restricted to partners, parents and carers. Any visitor to these areas who has or has had any symptoms of sickness, diarrhoea or flu-like symptoms is asked not to visit.
These restrictions are being reviewed twice each day, and any changes will be communicated via the Trust website and local media. We are grateful for the continued patience and understanding of relatives, friends and patients.
