Guiting Ward

Guiting Ward is a 34 bedded mixed sex in-patient facility specialising in Respiratory Medicine (conditions such as asthma, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis) whilst also having a compliment of acute general medical patients. We meet a variety of patient needs which includes the administration of Non-Invasive Ventilation. Our ward philosophy has been to provide quality always, with a high standard of individualised patient care. We uphold standards to maintain privacy, dignity and confidentiality whilst respecting all patients’ wishes, providing collaborative working with patients and relatives in planning and evaluating their care needs.

The Guiting Ward nursing team consists of a Ward Manager, Katie Howard, three Junior Sisters, Catherine Russell, Kuscima Vithanage & Nicola Tandy, a large compliment of Registered Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, a Lead Healthcare Assistant and two Ward Clerks. All staff work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team to include respiratory specialist nurses, a team of three consultants, medical staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, discharge teams, ward pharmacists and volunteers, student nurses, lung function technicians, dieticians and palliative care staff.

All Ward Staff are very approachable and work well together providing professionalism and a happy working environment to enhance patient stay, experience and journey.

Guiting Ward is situated on the third Floor of St Luke’s 1 building, accessed via the College Road Car Park.
