Dr. Kim Benstead : Consultant Oncologist

Qualified Cambridge, 1980

Dr Benstead qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and obtained further general medical experience in Southampton. She initially trained in oncology at the Christie Hospital, Manchester. This was followed by two years as a CRC research fellow in the Paterson laboratories in Manchester. She completed her training as senior registrar at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, which included six months at the cancer centre in Auckland. 

 

Her main clinical interests are breast cancer, lymphomas and colorectal cancer. She is very active in offering patients the opportunity to enter national research trials and chairs the Research Committee for the Oncology Centre.

 

She also has an interest in medical education serving as the chair of the Clinical Oncology Curriculum Subcommittee of the Royal College of Radiologists, and coordinating the teaching of medical students in the Gloucestershire Cancer Centre.
