Dr Francis trained at Southampton University Medical School qualifying in 1990. After working in trauma and Salisbury’s spinal unit he specialised in Anaesthesia working in Portsmouth, Cardiff and Cambridge. Whilst at Cambridge he became interested in Pain Medicine before completing his specialist pain training in St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. He was appointed a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2000. As a consultant Dr Francis has taken a keen interest in Medical Education and is currently the Director of Medical Education for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

 All patients requiring a stay in Hospital under the care of Dr. Francis will be admitted to Cheltenham General Hospital.
