Dr. Monro originally trained as a General Practitioner and is now a Consultant Physician in General and Old Age Medicine with a special interest in Falls, Osteoporosis, and Orthogeriatrics. He is also one of the Acute Physicians who works on the Acute Care Unit at GRH.
Dr Monro looks after patients on the combined Hip Fracture and Acute General and Old Age Medicine ward, ward 4A, at GRH.
Dr Monro does a weekly Falls clinic and a weekly General and Old Age Medicine out-patient clinic.
He is responsible for the Old Age Medicine Departmental education programme and Junior Doctor’s training.

Multidisciplinary Falls Clinic – Wednesday afternoons. This clinic is for older patients who are having recurrent falls due to underlying medical conditions.
There is also a Falls Prevention Clinic run by the Hospital Clinical Falls Specialist on Thursday mornings. This clinic is for older people whose falls are predominately due to arthritis, gait or balance disorders.
General and Old Age Medicine clinic – Monday afternoons. This is for new patients referred by their GP or other hospital specialists, ward discharges, and other medical follow-ups.
