Dr. Stephen Shepherd : Consultant Clinical Oncologist
MB, ChB; MRCP; FRCR; MD

Qualified Leicester University Medical School 1987 – Gold Medallist

After completing my training in General Medicine and gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) on the Leicester teaching hospitals rotation, I was appointed to the Royal Marsden Hospital, London where I did all my specialist training and gained my Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in the treatment of cancer. During this time I undertook a two year Clinical Research Fellowship developing and widening the clinical application of stereotactic radiotherapy, a specialised technique for the treatment of brain tumours, for which I was awarded my doctorate (MD).

I was appointed to the post of Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre in 1997 and specialise in the non-surgical treatments (radiotherapy and chemotherapy) for patients with colorectal, head and neck or skin cancers. Apart from attending a joint clinic for patients with head and neck cancer at Worcester Royal Hospital twice a month, my clinical practice is based in the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital.
