Pain Clinic Team Members
The Pain Clinic has two main bases, at Cheltenham and Gloucester. In addition to the two main Hospitals the Pain Consultants hold Outpatient Clinics at Cirencester, Stroud, Tewkesbury and Dilke Memorial (Cinderford) Hospitals.
Within the Pain Clinic Team there are six Pain Consultants who work with a team of specialist doctors, nurses, psychologists and other staff. As a patient you may be seen by the Consultant or by a doctor or nurse within their team. The Consultant has overall responsibilty for your care.
Consultants
We have six consultants, all of whom work in both Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia. (The Faculty of Pain Medicine have produced an information booklet which discusses the work a Pain Consultant does which you may find helpful).
The consultants all work together in the cross-county service although Drs de Courcy, Francis and Young are based in Cheltenham and Drs Harper, Law and Horswill are based in Gloucester.
Other Medical Staff
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a centre recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists for Advanced Training in Pain Medicine. Currently we have two Higher Pain Trainees, Dr Alice Braga and Dr Nishi Patel, working with us, who may be involved in the care of our patients. All the consultants are involved in the Advanced Training of specialist pain doctors, and the Local Pain Medicine Educational Supervisor is Dr de Courcy.
Nursing Staff
Sister Claire Walder, our Clinical Nurse Specialist, work in both Cheltenham and Gloucester. She is shortly to be joined by Sister Carol Hunter. Sister Jane Rogers, who is mainly based in the Pain Self Management Programme team, also gives some input into our clinics.
Clinical Psychologists
Dr Sarah Wyer (currently on sabbattical), Dr Alice Loyal and Dr Lucy Clark. Our Clinical Psychologists work both individually with patients and within the Pain Self Management team.
Managerial Staff
Our service is supported by Emily Morgan, General Manager.
Administrative Staff
