Cancer is, sadly, a common source of pain and with the Three Counties Cancer Centre situated in Cheltenham, a substantial number of the patients we see have cancer pain.  We work very closely with our colleagues in the Palliative Care Team and at the Sue Ryder Hospice in Cheltenham in looking after people with cancer pain.

The British Pain Society have produced a book called Managing cancer pain - information for patients (2010), which is a perspective from the British Pain Society, supported by the Association for Palliative Medicine and the Royal College of General Practitioners.

While written primarily for health professionals, the Cancer Pain book published by the British Pain Society has very useful detail. (we have to confess some bias in this since Dr de Courcy and Dr Young wrote some of it!)

 

Cancer Research UK has a good summary page with a number of links.  In addition, there is useful information on the Macmillan Cancer Support website.

 

The Pain Relief Foundation in Liverpool have produced an information sheet on cancer pain.
