Sciatica

This is a form of nerve pain due to pressure on or inflammation of the sciatic nerve or its branches.  This is normally related to problems in the spine, though pain in the sciatic nerve can also result from pressure furher down its pathway in some forms of piriformis syndrome.

Sciatica is dealt with in more detail in the relevant section of the back pain pages.
