1. Why have I been referred for Speech and Language Therapy?
Your GP or hospital specialist may refer you to Speech and Language Therapy for help with difficulties in communication and/or swallowing.
2. What does a Speech and Language Therapist do?
A Speech and Language Therapist can help people who are experiencing problems with:
- speaking
- language, reading or writing
- swallowing
- voice
- fluency
3. How much support will I get from Speech and Language Therapy in Gloucestershire?
This will depend on your individual needs. Your Speech and Language Therapist will make an agreement with you about how often you need to be seen.
4. Can I receive Speech and Language Therapy closer to home?
Ask your Speech and Language Therapist if you feel it is too far to travel. There might be a Speech and Language Therapist closer to where you live. You may also be eligible for hospital transport.

Please contact your Speech and Language Therapist.
