Inpatient Services

Inpatient stays will be on Guiting Ward, which is the respiratory ward. 

The Lead Nurse on the ward is Polly Pullinger.  

The ward clerk is Jenny Noulton.  Contact number: 08454 224 003

As a CF patient you will always be allocated a single rooms with  En Suite facilities during your admission.    There are 4 single rooms, 3 with en suite facilites.  You will have your own  TV,  there is the possibility of using the playstation,  you are able to use your  mobile phone and bring in a lap top if you would like to.  (NB:  The responsibliity of security of these items remains with yourself.)

The ward doctors will see you daily.  Dr Penketh does formal ward rounds Monday monrning and Friday afternoon, but will also attend the ward to see you on a daily basis.

Due to cross Infection,  you are not permitted to enter the room of a fellow CF patient.

In between treatment times, you are free to leave the ward as you wish, returning in time for your next treatment or physio session.  Please ensure you notify the nurse in charge if you leave the ward.

Meals/snacks

On your admission,  the nurses will liaise with the dietitians for you to recieve food vouchers that enable you to visit the canteen to freely obtain any extra food or snacks that you require (to the value of the voucher), in addition to your ward meals.

Visiting times

3pm  - 4.30pm   and   6pm - 8pm

Hospital gym visits

The physio will see you daily and agree a time for the next day with you.

Medications

Please bring your medication with you into hospital, to allow staff to see what medicines you usually take.  Your medication will be locked away securely in a locker next to your bed, the nurses can arrange for you to have a key to the medication locker if you want to administer your own medication whilst in hospital.
