Outpatient Services
CF clinics are held at Cheltenham General hospital in West Block Outpatients, Clinic B on alternate Monday afternoons and a Wednesday morning.
On your arrival, report to the main reception desk, where the clerks will confirm your name, address and GP. It is important that any changes in your circumstances are told to the receptionist for your records to be updated.
The CF team will be present in the clinic, as well as a Health Care Assistant who will weigh and measure you and take your oxygen saturation. For a lung function test, the HCA will provide you with the relevant form and direct you to the lung function department. You will also be given a sputum pot to provide a sample for analysis. Patient appoitnments are staggered so that CF patients do not come into contact with each other. After lung function, on return to clinic, you will be allocated an individual room and all members of the team will come to you. This is for infection control purposes.
Whilst at clinic you'll be assessed by our CF physiotherapy team, and the CF specialist nurses, as well as discussing your dietietic and any social needs.
On occasion you may be admitted to the ward directly from clinic or alternatively, a planned admission may be discussed.
A follow up appointment for clinic will be made for you at the end of your consultation. You will be given a green slip to take to the reception desk to enable this to be actioned.
A small newsagent with snacks and beverages is in the corridor behind the recpetion desk, along with public toilets for your convenience.
