The Local Counter Fraud Service make an award of Counter Fraud Star each year to the individual or team who is felt to have made the most important contribution towards the work of the counter fraud service.  We are delighted to make the award for 2011 to the Overseas Patients Office at GRH. Lisa Meadows and Dawn Simon were nominated for the exceptional work done to identify and seek payment from overseas patients who might otherwise to have obtained free in-patient services to which they were not entitled.  This work is likely to have an on-going impact as the identification of potential health tourists continues to rise. 

 Keeping NHS resources within the NHS is crucial especially in these difficult times and we are grateful to all those in the Trust - and, indeed, everyone around the whole county – who has reported potential dishonesty that might be costing the NHS valuable resources.
