Apprenticeship Information

 What is an Apprenticeship

An Apprenticeship consists of 3 elements:

  1. Competence Element - NVQ (at Level 2 / Level 3)
The competence element is achieved whilst you carry out your job role. There are a series of competencies mapped to your job role. As you carry out activities at work you will gather work-based evidence and get assessed against the competencies by your assessor.

  2. Technical Element - Technical Certificate
A technical certificate is a knowledge based qualification which helps develop your understanding of your job role. It supports you to do your job safely and is a specialised course of study. You may be required to complete some written pieces of work towards this element.

  3. Functional Skills - English, Maths and ICT
To enable you to function at the level required for your job role, you will need to complete a range of functional skills, this includes English, Maths and in some cases ICT (Information Communication Technology). They will help you develop important skills like communication, team work and problem solving.
