Map of Medicine and a user guide to the Map is just one click away as an icon has been placed on all PCs in the Hospitals Trust. You will need an Athens username to be able to use it. If you need further information we can arrange a refresher session for you.

UK Duets

UK Duets draws on three main sources to identify uncertainties about the effects of treatments:

  • patients' carers' and clinicians' questions about the effects of treatment
  • research recommendations in reports of systematic reviews of existing research and in clinical guidelines, in which knowledge gaps are revealed
  • ongoing research, both in the form of systematic reviews in progress and new "primary" studies

Athens Registration

The NHS has paid for around 2,000 online journals and about 800 e-books, in order to use these you need to register for Athens. If you have any problems with your Athens account, contact the for help

This site is intended for both the public and health professionals. It aims to respond to news stories the day they appear in the media and gives an overview of both the accuracy of the article and the applicablility of the scientific study it was based on

Six Book Challenge is coming soon - Donate a book!

Did you miss our "donate a book for the challenge" event?

If you would like to donate a book to the 2013 reading challenge, you can send books via internal mail to either library. A Mindlab International research report showed that immersing yourself in a book for only 6 minutes can make a difference to your stress levels, so do consider taking part for the sake of your health!

Each week we are asked by staff of varying grades and from a wide variety of departments, to look for information to support patient care or healthcare research. Please request one if you need information to support a service improvement project, a change in procedure or updating a local policy.
