The Band 5 development programme has been designed to offer further training and support to more Senior Band 5 nurses within the trust.  The programme has so far been run once with very positive reviews from both the speakers and the delegates, and we hope to continue developing the course over the coming years.

The course comes at no charge to the ward/department and offers staff the oportunity to gain training areas such as undertaking Appraisals and Advanced Communication. This will facilitate insight into the running of the Trust and its Strategic Objectives.  Topics such as Senior Band 5 nurse roles in the department during a Major Incident or Managing Change in the department are also focused upon.

There is an expectation that each delegate on the course will produce a poster presentation relating to an area of practice or a process that they have changed during and subsequent to this course.  Speakers will give delegates the tools and information with which to manage this change and give examples of how high level changes have been planned and implemented within our Trust.
