Employee Voice & Engagement

The Trust places significant emphasis on developing the ‘employee voice’ and engaging with its staff. Whether in the design and provision of services or improving the experience of both staff and patients, the thoughts and ideas of staff at all levels are vital.

There are a number of formal and informal ways in which staff can make their voices heard. Every year, the Trust canvasses the view of staff via the national NHS Staff Survey.

The Board is committed to publishing and taking action on the results of the Staff Survey.

Pulse Checks

In addition, the Trust periodically runs ‘pulse checks’ (sample surveys) across a range of staff to see if we are on track with our action plans. Every month the CEO holds briefing sessions for all staff who are able to attend and they have the opportunity to ask questions of the CEO and other managers.

Throughout the year, a number of briefing sessions are held for staff and these typically provide the opportunity to hear about and to contribute to plans for service redesign as well as progress on financial issues. The Trust is also keen to promote engagement with staff representatives whether Trade Unions or Professional Associations and provides appropriate facilities for this to happen as well as membership on Trust committees for a number of these representatives.
